Steel industry
waste derived Alternative reducing agents
N+P have developed waste derived alternative reducing agents, which are used in blast furnace applications. Thanks to a various portfolio of options, both existing PCI injection systems or bespoke feed systems are be used to feed our materials into the bottom of the furnace. Utilization of waste derived alternative reducing agents is considered as chemical recycling (R3).
Trusted for over three decades
We’ve been working with the most innovative companies to develop our waste derived alternative reducing agent. Thanks to joint collaborations, we are now offering our solutions to the global steel industry to allow them to benefit from cheaper alternatives. Every site is different but we were able to find solutions for different challenges.

N+P works together with
Europe’s market leaders in steel production
We are proud to jointly develop waste derived alternative reducing agents together with innovative steel production sites. Since the introduction of our waste derived alternative reducing agents, we have been continuously developing our materials to be used in various feed- and dosing systems for various blast furnace applications.
Logistics make projects happen
Logistics are a crucial part of any project. Our clients rely on our team of experts to ensure that materials are collected and delivered every day of the week, on time and with the required modality. We are proud to have developed logistic routes all across the world using various modalities, from trucks to vessels, trains or sea containers.
Everything around logistics with one focus: to make projects happen, on time and on budget.
Waste legislation
is imperative for a projects success
Waste is a highly regulated business, with different waste streams being regulated under EVOA EG 1013/2006. Since its founding N+P have made over 4.000 notifications to over 26 countries within and outside of the European Union. Our team of experts is ensuring that all our movements are carried out under the right documentation and advise our clients on the right permit applications.
Quality focussed
Our mindset is based around quality. We realize that a poor quality product will have a dramatic effect on your process - from emissions to product quality, throughput or loss of valuable production hours.
Thanks to our three decades of experience we have built a vast database of knowledge around waste qualities and the effect qualities may have on your processes. We guarantee our quality, independent of seasonal influences or changes in the waste markets.
Research and Development
waste pioneers
Understanding industrial processes in detail, understanding which quality demands a process has both from a physical (feeding) as from a chemical (product and emissions) is key for our team to come up with new ideas. On the other hand, a deep understanding on waste compositions and treatment help us to create valuable materials from a heterogeneous source that keeps changing depending on seasonal or other influences.
Case study
“Sustainability, in the broadest sense of the word, is essential to reduce the global carbon footprint. At the Montanuniversität we research and support ways to achieve a circular economy to contribute to Europe’s climate goals. We were therefore very pleased to carry out a study with N+P on her Subcoal® as an alternative reducing agent for blast furnaces. The results were exciting and promising and have been turned into real projects in Europe's steel industry.”

Pulverized Alternative Fuel (PAF)
N+P's PAF is a unique powder-type fuel, which can be used in existing (multi-) burner systems to substitute up to 100% fossil fuels
Subcoal®
Pellets comparable to bituminous coal in terms of heating value and it can be treated the same physical way
